• Re: I need to know steps to take in order to become a succesful and great pilot?

What is your age? What have you done so far? Realize that most Academies have over 10000 applicants each year and only select 1200-1300. Most classes graduate between 800-900. The competition is VERY stiff. You must do VERY well in school, do well on the ACT/SATs, be involved in your school (gov't sports extra ...

  • Re: Air Force Academy- Getting in?

The real answer is your sitting height for pilot training. That's the height from your butt to the top of your head. The reason is for the ejection seats. So, if you have long legs and a short frame you'll be ok.

  • Re: Which is better: The F-16XL or the F/A-18E/F

I've never been a Hornet fan Ken, but that's simply personal preference, I'll not discount the fact though, that the F/A-18 is good at what it does, I'll never deny it credit that's due. And while it's a moot point to compare the XL to the F/A-18E/F..the XL'll never be produced unless the JSF falls flat on it's V/Stol nozzle. But It's definitely ...

  • AIM-9X

I was wondering if you guys had any information about the AIM-9X. I've seen it mentioned in books but I don't have any real information about it. I read that it is the US's response to the ASRAAM. Is there just a bigger warhead or just a seeker head upgrade? Thanks

  • Have I sabotaged myself?

I'm a high school Sophomore and am starting to have troubles focuing in school. It has been my dream to fly for as long as I can remember. I am very interested in the Raptor but will fly anything they will let me. I have had a lot of stupid obstacles thrown in front of me and am not fitting in well at school or having the greatest

  • Re: About EGPWS

All aviation mishap categories have gone down EXCEPT ''controlled flight into terrain''. Radar, air traffic controllers, transponders, mode C transponders, TCAS and other systems prevent collisions with other aircraft, but they do not prevent collisions with the terrain. An EGPWS does that. Or tries to.

  • Re: Air Force Academy Admissions

I'm not sure about the sports scholarships. I wasn't admitted based on sports. I was admitted based on the normal way that most people are admitted. I just applied and was accepted. Keep in mind, even if they want you for sports, you still have to get a nomination.
