  • Re: civilian owned f-16C

In 1992, I built an F16C block 42 full size active cockpit simulator. After several moves, it rested in a museum in Minneapolis, Minn. Thousands of people enjoyed the experience of that machine. Now, the museum has decided it wants something else, so my machine has to move again. No, you are not the first, but if I cannot find a proper place for ...

  • Re: Stick info needed

Military joysticks will vary in the exact degree of movement. Set the F18 to whatever fits your cockpit and feels right. If you use stops with setscrew adjustment, you can change it in the future if you must be precise. No pilot really cares as long as the plane flies correctly. I built the first civilian F16C simulator in 1992. It was a real mess ...

  • Re: Anyone knows the aviation metrology?

This is in pilotspeak, so probably not as technical as you want. 1) There is no real realtionship. The troposphere is narrower at the poles and wider at the equator. 2) Temp inversion is a low to the ground effect, usually from a clear night with calm winds. The cooler air, because of its greater density, settles close to the ground, and the ...

  • Re: Please Help! HS Senior in Distress

First, addressing the where to go issue. The graduating class of 2002 at the Air Force Academy had 584 (or so) people physically qualified for pilot training and that wanted to go. When the assignments came down 6 months before graduation, there were 545 pilot training slots. That's 93% of PQ (Pilot Qualified) getting pilot training slots. Even

  • Aviation joke: Boeing B797 ultra-large twin!

Boeing saw the huge success of A380 spuerjumbo in 2008, so they decided to develop a new superjumbo called B797, which is to be delivered in 2014. They decided the B797 should be of twin-engined design for better fuel economy compared to A380. The B797 is solely powered by two newly developed GE180 160,000-180,000lb class engines. It has fan tip ...
