Well, I don't see why you shouldn't join the Air Cadets. A lot of our fighter pilots were in the Civil Air Patrrol over here as kids, and a lot of CAP cadets go to the USAFA.
About joining the Canadian military...you could probably get a fighter slot. I know that it seems difficult, but, hey, obviously people do make it. ...

Well, I went to a presentation on the service academies with my dad. I got a copy of a congressional nomination form and it is a big packet with a bunch of questions. There are parts where they'll ask you about your hobbies and achievements and things like that, and that's where you can probably write dow your HAM radio ...

Yes, this is a tough case. You should go and talk to your doctor about this. Still, if it is only on these tests that your color vision seems to fail you, I can't see why you would not be allowed to fly. They might even grant you a waiver anyways. Like I suggested, you should probably go and talk to people who really know ...

I went to the USAFA website www.academyadmissions.com
I searched for the policy on colorblindness and I uncovered only this:
''...Successful completion of the Pseudoisochromatic Plates or Farnsworth Lantern color vision tests and the Vision Test Apparatus โ Near and Distant (VTA-ND) or Titmus Stereofly or Randot Stereo or Verhoeff depth ...

You said something about enlisting and going to OTS. Remember to make the distinction. If you want to be an officer do not, repeat, do not enlist. You just go to OTS. About the age limits:
USAF: Must meet a selection board before age 28 1/2. Must enter Undergraduate Flying Training (UPT) before age 30.
USN/USMC: To ...

I regret to inform you that according to http://usmilitary.about.com/od/joiningthemilitary/l/blpilotage.htm, you are too old.
I only checked for the five services, not for the different National Guard branches, so check those out.
The good news? I believe that you can still become a civilian pilot. If flying is really what you ...

By the way, would I really have a better shot at flying with the Navy than the Air Force? I can think of many reasons why this would be true, but I'm not sure.

If you want to go to a service academy, then make sure you have a GPA of at least 3.5 and that you do athletics and community service. The aformentioned GPA level is not a prerequisite (I think the minimum is actually like 2.00), but it is recommended.

I think its 64 inches for the USAF and 62 inches for the USN. So, you may have a chance with the Navy. I'm not sure what the requirements are for the USMC. I could be wrong, but I think these are accurate. You might still grow a couple of inches. Also, they might give you a plane without an ejection seat in the USAF ...

Here are your best options:
1. The United States Air Force Academy. Being a junior, it is not too late to get a nomination from the proper authorities. Competition is tough, but getting involved in your community and at school, as well as getting good grades and participating in athletics should get you in. About half of ...
