• The Airbus widebodies thread

All Airbus single deck widebodies can trace their history back to A300B2, the 1st production aircraft of Airbus. Airbus planned to develop 3 more widebody aircrafts immediately after the launch of A300B2 in early 1970's, the shorter variant of A300 (which is A310-200), the stretched, longer range twin engined TA9 & quad engined ultra long ...

  • How to ad the code !

If you are having problems adding the code, please check the instructions below. The most common problem is that people forget they have to physically place the Aviation Top 100 logo (the gif) in the same folder as the page where they are placing the code. If failing to do so you will see an empty box where the Logo is supposed to show. Select the ...

  • Something on Airbus A380

Airbus A380 is its largest jetliner on offer, with 2 widebody decks along the whole length of the aircraft. It has 10-abreast economy lower deck & 8-abreast economy upper deck, and very curved upper deck design like that of 747 upper deck. Because of its huge size, Airbus has to completely redesign the aircraft, rather than deriving from A340.

  • A318 & PW6000 engines

Airbus A318 has 2 engine options, CFM56 & PW6000 dedicated for A318. But I think the decision made by Pratt Whitney of making PW6000 just for A318 & not for other aircrafts like B717 is not wise at all. First of all, there would be very few PW6000 produced since A318 is the only aircraft to use PW6000 engine. This in turn rises production

  • Something on MD8x engines

MD8x aircrafts were the last batch of aircrafts using PW JT8D of 1950's design, with low bypass ratio, hence high fuel consumption & high noise level. Susprisingly some DC8 were changed to more advanced, high bypass CFM56 engines in 1980's. So a question is risen: Why PW JT8D of backward design, low bypass ratio, hence high fuel consumption ...

  • Website focus: epinions.com

Today I would like to introduce a very good website on passengers' opinion on airlines: epinions.com (www.epinions.com) Its Airline section contains many passengers' opinion on the airlines, with most of them being unbiased & factual. Midwest Express, which features full business class cabin & no middle seats, is the only airlines having ...

  • Should regulations on USA - Canada air transport be reduced?

The USA domestic air transport is deregulated, so people can enjoy the lowest air fare in the World. There are also low cost airlines like Westjet flying Canada domestic routes. But there are still no low cost airlines serving USA - Canada routes (America West is not a true low cost airline), so passengers have to pay high fare on travelling ...

  • Intercontinental airlines no flight to USA

USA is the strongest & most important state in the world, so almost every intercontinental airline operates flights to USA, including the airlines from small, remote states like Air Tahiti Nui. So I would like to discuss if there are any intercontinental airlines having no flights to USA. I just thinked of Cubana & Air Mauritus. Please ...

  • Airline focus: TAM of Brazil

This is the 1st Airline focus of the forum, and the focus airline is TAM of Brazil (www.tam.com.br) TAM of Brazil started its business in 1976, and was a 3rd level airline until early 2000, and did not have international routes before 2000. It undergone a great change since 1998, when A330 are delivered & international routes, like routes to ...

  • Alcoholic drinks serving policy of airlines

It is known that most airlines in the world disallows passengers to drink alcoholic drinks brought by them on board, and they can only drink alocholic drinks served by flight attendants. This is to prevent passengers drinking excessive alcoholic drinks & then makes some action dangerous to passengers. But Royal Brunei Airline is very unique. ...
