• Airline focus: Air Greenland

Air Greenland is probably the airline with worst operating conditions, as Greenland has over 80% of its land covered by ice cap, and almost all small towns / villages do not have airports, and have only heliports. There are only 8 airports in Greenland, only only 2 of them jet capable. This explains why Air Greenland has many helicopters, but only ...

  • Re: Military Flight Jackets

The person is correct. I have not seen anybody in USAF wear the nylon version with the knit collar in the last 10 years I am a Danish pilot and when I was a student (In USAF) in 92 we got the nomex version and now that I am an instructor in USAF we still get the nomex version. It wouldn't make sence at all for an aircrew to wear a nylon jacket. It ...

  • Military Flight Jackets

What I would like to know is, what kind do they use?.. Like I have seen some places that say things about the MA-1 being a like a UASF flight jacket. But when I asked about it on a diff fourm, they said something diff. Here is what one person said about it.. <i>The MA-1 jacket is not a current-issue item, at least not in the USAF flying ...

  • Smoking policies of airlines

There was no clear medical evidence for harmfulness of smoking before 1970's, so smoking was allowed in any airlines. USA is one of the earliest state to understand smoking is harmful for others' health, so US FAA banned smoking on all US domestic flights since 1979. But smoking is still allowed on most international flights. Air Canada is the ...

  • Airlines having full widebody fleet

Most airlines having long haul service operate domestic routes of high frequency and mostly served by single aisles. So there are not many airlines having full widebody operation. I think Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, Air India are examples. Can anyone name more examples?

  • Airline focus: American Trans Air (ATA)

American Trans Air (ATA) can have its history traced back to a private air travel club, Ambassadair, founded in 1973, with only one Boeing 720. 1981 is an important year for ATA, as it is certified as a chartered carrier since then. It initiated scheduled service between Indianapolis and Ft. Myers in 1986. It also introduced L-1011 since then. ...
