If someone joined the Selected Reserve with an eight year agreement, and then wanted to transfer to active duty after they had served, say three years, could they then transfer to active duty with an 5 year agreement to active duty, or would they have to agree to serve for another ten years?

What are the advantages of the AFR and why would  someone want to join the Reserve over Active Duty? What are the benefits of the Reserve?Any help I can get, I would appreciate.
