A petition to preserve aviation safety

The petition below calls for the resignation of FAA Administrator Marion Blakey.

When you visit http://www.aviationworkersofamerica.org/getmarion.htm you can enter your information and the petition will be sent to your congressional representatives.

Please visit the link and show your concern for the safety of the flying public.

    Raymond Adams, Director AWAPAC

    Dear Senator/Congressman ______________,

As a concerned citizen and a constituent of your state/district, I implore you to call for the resignation of Federal Aviation Administrator Marion Blakey. During her tenure as head of the FAA, she has continually proven that she values money over safety. She is jeopardizing the integrity of the air traffic control system by selling the flight service stations to the highest bidder and refusing to acknowledge a coming wave of air traffic controller retirements that will leave the ATC system dangerously undermanned. She also supports the outsourcing of aircraft maintenance to unregulated overseas companies who are not accountable for their workmanship. Her irresponsible policies are reducing the margin of safety built by the aviation community through over one hundred years of development and refinement.

In recent years, Administrator Blakey has been taken under wing by the major airlines and their agenda has become Ms. Blakey’s policy. This is wholly and undeniably wrong and diametrically opposed to the mission of the FAA. The Federal Aviation Administration is an oversight and regulatory agency and its mission is to ensure the safety of the flying public. It is not meant to be run as a capitalist entity that is focused solely on the bottom line and it is not a tool that the airlines can use to bolster their profits. As the administrator of the agency, Ms. Blakey should be enacting policy that while not stifling the industry, keeps its motivation for profit from endangering the citizens of our country.

I ask you to exert your oversight authority of the executive branch of government and in light of her record, call for Ms. Blakey to step down.

    Sincerely,
