    Airline focus: Midwest Express

Midwest Express, a First Class-only USA domestic airline, is set up in 1984, and is very unique in the world.

It fleet consists of old DC-9 series and MD80 series, and all are configured to 4-abreast leather seats of 33-34" seat pitch, and cushion width of 21". The DC-9-14/15 have only 60 seats, 84 seats for DC-9-32, 112-116 for MD80 series. All are pre-owned.

Its safety record is excellent despite of old fleet, with highest honour of Certificate of Excellence Diamond Award for exemplary maintenance practices.

But Midwest Express is going to order a few new B717, and they would be the first new aircrafts of Midwest Express.

There is the Best Care Club for all Midwest Express passengers, having everything needed to conduct business like FAX & photocopiers, connected PCs, free local phones. There are also things like chair massage and even fireplace, which is not found on any lounges of other airlines.

It also operates a regional airline called Skyway Airlines, which runs only Skyway 328JET of 32-seat and Beech 1900D turboprop of 19-seat. The Beech is of 1-1 configuration!

As a First-Class only airline, Midwest Express offers meals and most alcoholic drinks free of charge for all passengers.
