  • Re:Call Signs...

*** Posted by run *** [---snip---- 2) Duty Ops looks at the names of the students and randomly takes out letters to make a call sign. Example: My name is Henrik Bach and my call sign became ''HEB''. I wouldn't hope to much to get ''ICE'' as a call sign if I was you. ''SIM'' could more likely be yours. Regards, Henrik.] Hi Henrik Let's hope ...

  • Re:AIM-120....RUN?

*** Posted by run *** yes [Run, Is there any type of indication given to the pilot in the cockpit that tells him/her the 120 is now active and can continue without my radar lock, thus allowing me to move to the next target? ]

  • Re:GMT radar & the HUD

*** Posted by run *** [Run, Do the ''Official Military'' drop parameters allow for ''dumb bomb'' deployment/release using CCIP mode from altitudes of 15,000 ft. or more, or is it determined based upon the Air Defense(s) surrounding a particular target? Thank you both for responding here, this is a great area to post ?'s. BTW which of you is ...

  • Re:AIM-120 Just to add a small note

*** Posted by Rapier *** Sorry just to add one small note, Run is rught when he say's that it does deppend on the distance to target and a good lock on the target. When you do this Faulken and you get the shoot cue (or by studying the weapon range bar in the right side of the HUD) you will know when best to fire the missle. You can then turn ...

  • Re:Call Signs...

*** Posted by Henrik Bach *** 1) Normally the pilots don't have anything to say at all but they can ask for a new one in particular cases. 2) Duty Ops looks at the names of the students and randomly takes out letters to make a call sign. Example: My name is Henrik Bach and my call sign became ''HEB''. I wouldn't hope to much to get ''ICE'' as a ...

  • Re:GMT radar & the HUD

*** Posted by run *** Hi guys When you are going to drop your bombs in CCIP you always fly in with CCRP selected and then switch to CCIP when you have the target visual. The reason there is no target designator is in order not to clutter up the target area. The CCIP is the precision mode when you are talking dumb bombs, so it is importent to be ...

  • Re:AIM-120

*** Posted by run *** Hi guys Just to straigthen the conversation out a bit: The distance that the AMRAAM goes active on is dependent on when the radar in the missile is able to get a good lock. This means that the distance in question is mostly a missile-to-target distance and it doesn't have much to do with how far out it is fired. run

  • Re:GMT radar & the HUD

*** Posted by Rapier *** Hello Faulken, Sorry if I miss-understood your earlier question, nice to hear from you again. I just wanted to point out to you that you have made a very good question about the HUD symbology. I have often wondered myself if there was a symbol to make CCIP bombing a little easier. I think that CCIP bombing was a ...
