Ariana Afghan Airlines just operated its first flight to Frankfurt since 18 Sep 2002, its first flight to the Western countries since 1979. The airlines also has 20-yaer old A300B4 entered service since then.
The airline was probably the smallest flag carrier in the world, but still needs international aids. India supplies pilots to the airline till the airline can train and qualify its pilots. Filght attendants are trained in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and elsewhere until the airline has its training program. Jets are maintained in India and Jordan, while airport technicians are supplied from very distant Peru!
Despite of its poor restart, it has large ambition of being the airline of choice for Western business fliers and vacationers traveling to Central Asia and the Indian subcontinent. It would receive 2 more Airbuses donated by India, and hopes to fly flights to New York via Europe!
