Airbus A319CJ is on demonstation in U. S. National Business Aviation Association show in Orlando, Florida.
A319CJ and all A320 family members except PW6000 powered A318 are 120-minutes ETOPS compliant, while competitior B737NG is 180-minutes ETOPS compliant. This makes A320 family, as well as A319CJ, very constrictive on operation, cannot be used on routes like Hawaii - US West, trans-Pacific, trans-Atlantic (except North Atlantic), which require ETOPS of at least 180 minutes. This also explains why B737NG of 1960's design has more orders per year than A320 family of much more advanced design.
But all these are going to change because A319CJ would be 180-minutes ETOPS compliant since early 2003. This also means all CFM56 powered A320 family aircrafts (and maybe V2500 powered ones) would be 180-minutes ETOPS compliant soon after A319CJ, thus greatly increasing sales of A320 family.
